General Rules of Friends in High Places
1. The Staff is here to help you. Have a question? Ask. Have a problem with the board, another character, or us? Let us know. We are always happy to assist you. Please be polite at all times.
2. Do your best to remain active. If you're gone a month without posting and without notice, we will be forced to delete you and character. Fear not - we hold onto the profiles for a month after deleting them from the board, so, should you wish to return, you may. But if you remain active, it will never have to come to that! If you are inactive with a character, you run the risk of someone else being given the character.
3. You have to be at LEAST 13 to join this site. These are ProBoards rules. This is a PG-13 site. On that same issue, make sure to keep cursing, fighting and romance to a PG-13 level. Because there are minors here, any adult scenes will 'fade out'. Foul language will not be tolerated. Words used in the movies, ie, damn, Hell, etc are okay, but stretch that imagination! Foul language is not the only way to express anger and frustration. We'd also appreciate dark content and violence being kept moderately low too. If you have any questions as to what constitutes dark content, contact an admin for details on how to work out your plot.
4. No Godmoding other people's characters. It's just not cool. There is are accounts dedicated to major NPCs that anyone may use- PM a staff member for the information. Also, please read this thread for more information on Godmoding.
5. Any story from the Disney Animated Canon may be used. Most of the animated shows may be used, along with the Live Action movies. Some of the live-action shows are disallowed- please see the posted list for what's accepted.
6. At the moment, we are not allowing works from outside Disney. You may petition for inclusion of a work or character from the Don Bluth or Dreamworks films (see our NDC policy for more information) to be evaluated by staff on a case-by-case basis.
7. At the moment, we are not allowing works from the Marvel verse. They will be accepted later as Disney works out what it's going to do with the company. A later plot point will be the Marvel verse beginning to open onto the Disneyverses. Until then, no Marvel characters are going to be accepted.
8. We encourage creativity, but we do ask that you try and fit your interpretations of characters, worlds, etc. in with the posted background material. We are based off of the Friends and the High Council concept from TV Tropes. If you have questions about working an idea in, feel free to talk to Puck, Madcap, or Maleficent.
9. The admin staff has final say. This extends to how things work in this world, what characters are accepted, and what works are accepted. We'll always hear you out if you want to petition for the inclusion of another work or idea and we're pretty good about working other ideas into the main plot, but when it comes down to it, the final decision is ours.
10. Plagiarism, in any form, is not allowed. Period. You may adapt character profiles that YOU have used on other forums for use here, but no stealing someone else's profile. No copying from other sites like Wikipedia for character histories and the like. If we find that you have plagiarized any part of your application, you will be permanently banned from playing that character and given a two-week ban from the site. After those two weeks, you are allowed to return and apply for a different character. Further plagiarism will result in a permanent ban from Friends in High Places. Period.
11. No Spamming! It's rude and annoying. We have a dedicated advertisement board for showing off other forums. All advertising goes there.
12. Once you create an account, you have one week to start an application for the character. You then have one month to complete the application and submit it to the admin staff for review. Applications that take longer than this will be rejected and the account deleted.
13. If you have an issue with another player, please try to work it out between yourselves first. If the issue cannot be resolved, feel free to approach an admin for mediation. We're all friends here, and we want to keep a civil playing field. If you do think you're going to need to the help of an admin, we ask that you try to save any PMs or chats concerning the matter so that we can have the best understanding of what is going on.
RPing and Characters
1. At this time, you may have up to six characters. You must have at least two characters with 20 posts apiece to apply for an Original Character (OC) or Non-Disney Character (NDC), and only two of your six may be OCs or NDCs. Please see this topic for more information on our OC and NDC policy.
2. As a general rule, we request that your posts are at minimum 6 sentences in length (about a paragraph's worth). Occasional shorter posts are accepted, but don't make a habit of it! We want the RPing to be a rich experience for everyone.
3. Unless otherwise claimed, an Animal Sidekick for a character may be played using the character's account- ie. Pocahontas could play Meeko and Flit, Hercules could play with Pegasus, Lady Tremaine could play Lucifer.
4. If you need a character for your thread who is unclaimed (and not an Animal Sidekick), you may use the General NPC Account to play the character. For example, if Hercules and Ariel are doing a thread and they need Phil for a couple of scenes, and there is no player currently signed up as Phil, one of them could use the GNPCA to play as Phil for the thread.
5. There are a couple of Higher NPC Accounts used for playing the higher-ups of the Friends and Council, such as Chernabog and Zeus. These NPC accounts are for staff use only. PM Puck, Madcap, or Maleficent if you need a Higher NPC for your thread. One of us is almost always available. See the NPC topic for more information on all NPC accounts and rules.
6. We greatly appreciate good spelling and grammar. Writing that has a lot of spelling or grammar errors gets very distracting. Everyone does make mistakes, but please, take a second after writing a post to check for errors before you hit submit! That will make things easier for everyone.
7. Mary Sues/Gary Stus are right out. These characters are usually all-powerful and flawless, or have completely meaningless flaws.

1. Please keep your signature a decent size. There is no valid reason it should have a high resolution or stretch the page. Please, just choose a different image. 640 pixels wide x 200 pixels high is the maximum size for a signature banner.
2. Please do not do funny formatting in RP posts. No size changing, no funny colors, no changing the alignment. The RP threads MUST be readable by everyone. Some of us can't read small text very well! Center-aligned text is awkward, and if you change your text color, your post may not be readable on all the skins! Leave your RP text in the standard format and save your pretty postings for other locations.
