~~~About My Character~~~
What is your character's history? Are they on the side of the Friends, the High Council, neutral, or are they unaware of the conflict? What has happened to them in their lives to make them the way they are today?
Long ago, in the land of Llyr, there lived a princess. Her name was Angharad. Angharad had reached the age of marriage, and therefore had spent her days greeting suitors. All had failed to impressed her. She had given up hope when a young man, Geraint, had come before her. It was he who had won her heart, and he who she wouldn't be allowed to spend her life with. You see, in the land of Llyr, women were required to marry men of the magical sorts. Geraint did not have this quality. However, Angharad was as stubborn as the daughter she was to have. So, the pair eloped. And soon after, a baby girl was born; Eilonwy.
The kingdom of Llyr was a lovely one. An island kingdom, the palace was situated by the ocean. However, Eilonwy had never been one to enjoy castle life. It was a bore. So, as often as she could, the child would find herself wandering out side of the palace walls, wandering about one the sandy shores. She continued to do this, even as she got older. However, early into her teenage years this behavior had backfired.
This sun had been shining brightly, and everything about the day was pleasant. The beauty of the day had seduced the young blond, and, stealthily, made her way out. As she wandered around, her shoes in the sand a few yards away, the day had gotten darker. That was her cue, she figured, to go back. Slipping the shoes back onto her feet, she had found herself swept up, and on her way to a foreboding castle.
She hadn't made the trip from her home to this castle awake. However, when she had woken, she found herself in the cell of a dungeon. Soon, she was being taken to the king who was in charge. Thank goodness. She would have to make a point to complain about the lack of hospitality. The presence of the king, who she quickly learned was simply called the Horned King, was rather horrific. Eilonwy opened her mouth to put in her complaint, however, she was cut off. The Horned King had asked her something regarding this old cauldron, the black cauldron to be specific. She hadn't known anything about it. Her bauble however was supposed to be able to locate it. Eilonwy hardly believed it, and had refused to be helpful to him. So, she was sent back to the dungeons.
During her stay there, the young woman found her self exploring the tunnels underneath the castle. She had them figured out rather well actually. However, she couldn't escape with out some help, now could she? Luckily, that help came. One day, as she was wandering, she had heard a voice from above. This voice didn't sound like anything she had ever heard before. So, she pushed up one of the stones in the floor above her. There she met Taran, a pig keeper. They managed to escape, a bard by the name of Fflam joining them.
After they're escaped, the younger two had gotten into a fight. Agreeing that they had to work together, a creature by the name of Gurgi had joined them. Apparently, he had seen the pig Taran was keeping. The companions ended up in a magical lake filled with fairies. The fairies had the pig, and was able to lead them with the cauldron. The cauldron was owned by three witches, who had given the companions the cauldron in trade for the magical sword of Taran.
Of course, the cauldron was useless to them. The Horned King had a use for it however, and he was determined to use it. After they had found it, three of the four ended up captured by him yet again. He almost succeeded with his plan. Gurgi however, had foiled it. The cauldron killed The Horned King, and the group had made it out alive. The victory was a hollow one, what with one of the companions dead. However, that was all changed when the three witches had come back to take the cauldron. In exchange from the evil pot, the remaining companions were given Gurgi back, alive. After celebration, they all walked off together into the sunset.
Currently, she spends her days traveling with her companions, and teaching all those who wish to learn the very basics of magic.
Describe your character's personality. What are their strengths and weaknesses? What are their passions? What qualities do they have that are good or bad?
Perhaps one of the most obvious traits of Eilonwy is her tendency to be wordier than needed. She could easily go on for hours about the most irrelevant topics. Idle chatter is something Eilonwy is perfectly ago with, unless it's the gossipy style. She also has the tendency to talk to anyone who's willing listen. She's also as stubborn, if not more so, then the woman who gave birth to her. She really doesn't take no for an answer, and once she's decided something, it takes a lot to make her go back on it. The princess is a very adventurous girl, not like the princesses she's known. They may prefer to spend the day in they're castles, safe and sound. Eilonwy however, wants to see what the world has in store for her. Eilonwy also has a horrible temper. It takes very little to set her off, and when one does, they can expect a lot of blunt and sarcastic words from her mouth. They can also expect her to carry on with the argument, even if she knows she's wrong. However, she can't take what she dishes out. Much like she has the issue of being easy to anger, she has the issue of being easy to make cry. She does, however, refuse to cry in front of people. It's a sign of weakness, something she doesn't want people to think she is. Eilonwy is a rather honest girl. She'll tell you what she thinks of you without much hesitation.
If your character is listed on one of these pages, please copy their entry here. Will you be playing by this description, or are you going to take a different spin on things, and how so?
(For now, I'm only copying what was mentioned for Eilonwy herself. If you want me to copy the entire paragraph, I can do that.)
"Eilonwy travels with Taran and teaches magic to some of the Princesses as well as others who are willing to learn."
I plan on playing Eilonwy by this description. I can easily see her wanting to do something like that. That, and I can see some rather amusing scenes between Eilonwy and anyone she tries to teach what with her being so easy to frustrate.
~~~Sample~~~
Give us a small sample of how you will play your character. Give us at least three paragraphs.
On the outside, Eilonwy was likely the picture of tranquility. Her knees pulled up, chin resting on them, she stared blankly out at see, a calm expression on her face. Her slender fingers played with the slightly damp frays at the end of her skirt, and her toes were burrowed under the watery sand. As the tides rolled in, they washed over her pale feet. It was all rather comfortable, she had decided. Much like home. Much like she always did. Except that it wasn't home. Not that she minded. Llyr could be a boring place, especially when one spent all their day in a castle. Granted, the princess in question never spent all day inside. She had oft managed to sneak out the walls, and go wading for a bit. It was far better than going out when everyone did, having to spend time outside the water. It made no sense. After all, Llyr was named after a SEA KING. SEA. As in water. So why shouldn't she spend time in it? It was all to confusing.
It was on the inside where things were less than peaceful. One part of her was rather excited. Freedom was a wonderful thing, especially when one lived with such restrictions over their head. Yet unfamiliarity was a dangerous thing. How was she to know if the people here were of any good? Granted, everywhere had it's share of good and bad people. Some just had more of one. On the other hand, there was plenty of chance for adventure in the next few days, weeks, months. However long she was stuck here. Perhaps it didn't mater. Perhaps she shouldn't worry. No. No. She wasn't going to worry. She rarely had before. Why start now. Take everything one day at a time. That was the way to do things.
She was going to, however, continue to wonder where she was. You see, the young princess found herself in a rather odd place. The previous morning she woke up not in her overly fluffy bed, but on the cold soft earth. It was a rather pleasant change. Eilonwy had, after all, never been one for pillows stuffed to the point of bursting with goose feathers, or ornate beds and all the rest of the things that were generally thought of as lovely. She couldn't help but wonder how she had come to be next to a waterfall. The sound of it was what originally woke her. After looking around for awhile, she decided to fight her way towards civilization.
Eventually the blonde princess found the marketplace. She had tried to ask someone where exactly she was. But alas, her attempts were futile. With no avail, the Llyrian princess, gave up. However, she was starved. Spotting a rather juicy looking apple, she went up to purchase it. Except that she had nothing to trade for the delicious fruit. Defeated, she wandered around. It was then that she heard the familiar sounds of the water. It was then that the waves had called to her, like they always did. And that's how the princess found herself in the previously described position.
As she sat there, putting an end to the games her mind was playing, the girl decided that the crests of the waves were rather enchanting. They had almost always been. The stories behind them that her people told were fascinating. The one she recalled the most was one in which the silvery foam were the white horses Llyr was supposed to have rode. It didn't make much sense. How does one ride a horse underwater? Eilonwy didn't suppose they did. But that was likely why it stuck out so much, the oddity of it all.
The sound of feet on sand is a faint one. However, blocking out the other sounds, the princess detected it. Of course, it wasn't until her wandering eyes had seen the shadow behind her, that she had heard them. But, she heard them all the same. Not bothering to turn to face whoever had approached them, she greeted them, as much warmth in her voice as she could muster. Not that it was difficult. She tried to be a warm person. Of course, she was rather good at being cruel. But that was beside the point. "Hullo, You're more than welcome to take a seat if you wish." She wasn't sure at all if the current stranger was going to accept her invitation or not. Secretly, she hoped they did, as she was getting rather lonely.
~~~Bonding~~~
Why this character? What draws you to them? What makes you want to play them?
Well, I want to play Eilonwy because I enjoy playing her. I've done so almost since I start rping, and she's honestly just too much fun to play. She's got a lot of facets about her, and I enjoy having those to work with. Aside from that, she's a character that still has a lot of room to grow, which, again, I like having in my characters.
Who else do you play here?
no one
~~~Newbies~~~
What is your name? (If you're not comfortable telling us your real name, that's fine. Just give us a pen name that we can use when addressing you.)
Eilo/Piglet
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I'm Piglet. I'm sixteen years old, and have been apart of the rp world for about three years now. Currently, I live in the lovely state of Virginia. And when I say lovely, I mean boring as crap. Seriously, nothing to do. Especially in the winter. Anyhooo, I'm a high school sophomore, and pretty darn awesome, if I do say so myself. Ummmm I really can't pick a favorite Disney movie. They're all awesome. I'm addicted to Dr. Pepper, and think of it as my catnip. I'm a country music fan, sad as it may sounds. I'm also a fan of 80's music. I watch a lot of Glee. And crime shows. I have a dog named Koppyr. He's a fox hound. What else. OH! I spent the first eight years of my life in Germany. I was born in Texas, but after that, my family was transferred to Germany. So that's cool. I think. I love musical theater. BROADWAY FOR THE WIN! It would be so epic if life were a musical. I participated in my school musical last year. Not this year though. Anyway, I'm also in choir. Gotta love that. But um yeah. I'm a really chatty person, so feel free to hit me up via pm. Seriously, it makes me happy. But yeah, that's me in a nutshell. A really long nutshell, but a nutshell.
